How to Leave Your Trace With A Pair of Ice Skates

Image
An insider to my school, but an outsider to the ice rink that stands beside it. For the last three years of attending my school, I have yet to enter the ice rink, let alone any ice rink. Ordinarily, I never took a second look at it or set a foot inside. From a few feet away, I glanced up to the brick building containing a variety of shades of brown and the bold lettering that reads Sunnycrest Ice Rink. To find information on directions and hours of operations,  click here . As I hurriedly walked towards the set of dark brown doors from the brisk air, my brother stops me  to tell  me that I  was  going the wrong way.  I felt a little embarrassed, so the correct doors you should enter through is on the far right of the Sunnycrest sign.  When we walked through the correct entrance, the warmth enveloped me, and the loud sound of chatter touched my ears and my eyes met with three large glass paintings. Paintings of individuals engaging in activities on ice.

Keep Skating

Today I went to the ice rink for the second time and I already felt like an insider in a sense. One of my friends that went with me struggled with skating on ice, and because I learned enough to move on ice, I helped her. Which is pretty ironic since not too long ago, my brother along with a little kid I had never met before were the ones who had to help me. I have pushed myself to learn how to skate and learn the "ins" and "outs" of the ice rink. After a few hours of helping each other skate and me analyzing the place once more, I feel that I have just enough to add to my guide. I analyzed how people behaved, dressed, and even how they skated. I took several pictures and I surprisingly had a little conversation with the other workers there. One of the workers is a friend of mine from school, and I asked her numerous questions that I believe will help my guide.      My experiences at the ice rink are memorable, and I even came out of my comfort zone in some

Hoping to Spend My Sundays On Ice

Image
Hey lovely people, it is a Sunday afternoon as I am typing this in my bed and a realization came to me that my Sundays are no longer going to be spent in bed, but rather on ice.     From the previous blogs about my project, I have chosen the ice rink to be my place because not only does it meet the requirements, but it also gives me a chance to try something new. Plus, it is the perfect time for me to ice skate considering winter isn’t too far from now. During the three years of attending my school, I have yet to step inside the ice rink that was right beside it. I am completely oblivious to what it is like to be in the shoes of ice skaters, in this case, ice skates. Because of my oblivion, I might just follow these steps  here . I’m pretty sure outsiders would follow them as well. Choosing this place for my project will push me to understand how it feels to glide across ice, or fail to, and to experience an unfamiliar environment.      As someone who has never been in the
